Rosscraft is a Canadian based anthropometric instrument design, manufacturing and marketing company. From its inception in 1981, The mission of the company is to help make people participants and witnesses in research in the service of human kind providing both the tools and learning materials for assessing human physique and monitoring change with growth, exercise and nutrition.
This is a portable, practical alternative to a stadiometer for measuring stature and sitting height. The measure stature headboard, consists of a horizontal plane and a triangle. Techniques for orientation of the head, in the Frankfort plane, marking heights and measurement are fully described in ISAK standard manual and various publication including Anthropometry Illustrated and Anthropometry Fundamentals. A measuring tape accompanies the headboard.
Technical note: Why ruin a tape starting from zero? (1) Rosscraft uses the cut off portion for the segmometer, (2) the shortened tape is easier to use by a single anthropometrist than the whole tape by zeroing on some marked horizontal distance from the floor for stature and from the wall or abutment for arm span, (3) The Measuring tape can be used for sitting height placing the stub end on the box, reading to the scratch line and subtracting 110 cm from the data entered in the spreadsheet. One can use the segmometer for measuring from the floor, abutment or box height, however, this needlessly ties up that instrument for this purpose.
