Facts About Harloff Medical Carts

Facts About Harloff Medical Carts

The Harloff Company began as the Harloff Manufacturing Company in 1951 as the creator of the world's first Maid Cart. It's a strange but true fact that before Harloff carts, maids at hotels used to carry sheets and towels by hand back and forth to rooms. The Harloff Company continued to innovate throughout its history and branched out into specialty medical carts. Harloff has been producing high quality, professional grade medical carts with innovative features that have become industry standards. Harloff offers procedure carts, medication carts and other specialty carts for hospitals, nursing homes, clinics and surgery centers.

Another strange but true fact-- did you know that Harloff steel carts weigh the same as many of their plastic cart equivalents? Many plastic carts, though advertised as a light weight option, in fact weigh relatively the same as Harloff stainless steel carts. Harloff carts are easier to clean and maintain, and are well known in the industry for their durability, quality and long life.

At QuickMedical we're proud to announce the addition of several aluminum medical carts by Harloff to our expanding online medical equipment and supply store. Click ahead to read more and watch a short video on Harloff.

Health Myths of TV Debunked by Internet Show

We found this video on YouTube which was created by the people at GoodMagazine. GoodMagazine calls itself, "the global association of individuals, businesses, and nonprofits powering what works." Sounds a little culty, but it has something to do with General Electric, which doesn't mean it's not a cult, but probably has more to do with maintaining GE's public image.

Whatever the reason was for making this little video-- we like it. It debunks a few well-known TV tropes we're all familiar with. Check it out--

Glued on Hat: Head to Hospital

Last year, President Obama awarded Dr. Harry Wesley Coover Jr., the National Medal of Technology and Innovation. Dr. Coover worked for over 30 years at Kodak, recording 460 patents. Dr. Coover's most famous invention is Super Glue (also known as Krazy Glue, Wacko Glue, and other creative names.)

Super Glue and adhesives like it are called cyanoacrylates. Standard 'superglue' is 100% ethyl cyanoacrylate, but variations on this formula have lead to super glue being used for many different applications, including during the Vietnam War, according to popular stories, as a wound care spray. However, it wasn't until the 90s that a medical cyanoacrylate was approved by the FDA. Applying cyanoacrylate to materials made of cotton or wool (such as cotton swabs, cotton balls) results in a powerful, rapid exothermic reaction causing burns.

Winning the National Medal of Technology and Innovation was a great honor. However, I wonder if Super Glue's creator had any regrets. After all, Super Glue is often the unfortunate culprit behind pranks; unfortunate because Super Glue really is very powerful. In the video below, a young Englishman finds out just how powerful Super Glue can be, and finds himself having to visit a hospital.
