  • Q: Which applications are most appropriate for Andover's CoFlex TLC Two Layer Compression system?

Andover's TLC compression systems are comprised of two layers and are most suitable for achieving restoration of venous leg ulcers and other conditions which require compression as a method of treatment.

  • Q: What precautions should be taken when using the CoFlex TLC Compression System?

Adequate care should be taken to ensure proper arterial blood flow prior to the application of compression dressings. Patients with an ABI reading of less than 0.8 should not use the standard CoFlex TLC Compression system. An alternate system known as CoFlex TLC Lite is available to patients with an ABI of 0.5 or higher.

  • Q: How often must CoFlex TLC applied?

The Andover TLC compression systems are generally re-applied 1-2 times per week per healthcare provider order and/or facility protocol.

  • Q: Are Andover's TLC systems absorbent?

Yes, TLC compression systems are characterized by their dual layer composition in which the first layer is specifically designed to wick away weeping, serous drainage promoting a faster MVTR (moisture vapor transmission rate). This layer is not designed to be the primary dressing, but rather specific to the purpose of wicking drainage.

  • Q: Are CoFlex TLC systems available in different sizes and colors?

Yes, Andover Two Layer Compression systems are available in two lengths; standard and XL, adding two extra yards for highly contoured legs. These systems are also available in a variety of colors including blue, neon pink, purple, red and tan, available in an assorted pack as well.

  • Q: Do TLC compression systems deliver the industry standard of 40mmHg at the ankle and 17mmHg at the calf?

CoFlex elastic bandaging systems provide pressures consistent with other multi-component systems on the market. Andover's CoFlex systems maintain an SSI (Static Stiffness Index) greater than 10mmHg to provide continuous restorative pressure necessary to reduce edema and assist muscle pump action forcing the circulation of vital fluids to promote a rapid recovery.

  • Q: What makes CoFlex TLC different from the other two layer systems on the market?

Andover's compression bandages are highly effective for the following reasons:

The patent pending base layer of CoFlex TLC systems is a soft foam with an absorbent coating that wicks away light serous drainage allowing for a rapid moisture vapor transfer rate that helps keep the peri-wound skin dry.

CoFlex TLC compression systems are comprised of a second layer which is a patented easy hand-tear design, eliminating the need for scissors.

The CoFlex TLC kit includes a shear elastic stocking to be applied over the top of the system for patient comfort and mobility.

CoFlex systems are available in a variety of colors including tan.

CoFlex TLC is now available in an XL version for patients with highly contoured legs, helping to avoid the need to use two systems.

Andover also offers an alternative to patients with an ABI level equal to or greater than .05, known as the CoFlex TLC Lite.

  • Q: What benefits can be gained by adding a stocking to your CoFlex kit?

The benefits of adding a stocking to your CoFlex kit includes the ease of applying shoes and socks. The nylon stocking also helps decrease the chances of clothing and bed sheets from sticking to the bandage.

  • Q: Does the addition of a stocking increase the compression provided by the Two Layer Compression system?

Sub-bandage pressure studies have shown no significant difference in compression with the stocking in place.

  • Q: Will the CoFlex Two Layer Compression system leave unsightly and bothersome grooves in my patients' legs?

No, both layers of the CoFlex TLC system are applied with 50% overlap, providing an even surface leaving smooth, natural skin upon dressing removal.

  • Q: Will TLC compression systems slip or migrate down the leg?

CoFlex TLC systems are dynamically engineered with two layers to prevent the system from slipping or migrating down the leg. Layer two has a patented fabric base structure that mechanically bonds layer one and two together. The distinctive bond of these two layers provides a thin, low profile wrap that stays in its desired location.

  • Q: Which side of Andover's compression systems are applied directly on the patient's skin?

Andover conveniently marks each first layer of the CoFlex TLC system with a sticker instructing the application of the blue side (absorbent side) against the skin.
