Breast Health, Part 1

Breast health is a topic that seems to make more than a few people uncomfortable.

PostureGiven the importance American culture places on breasts, it's not surprising that many women have a hard time thinking about their breasts in a health conscious or clinical way. At the same time there is now a push for women to be more pro-active about their own health care. There is more of an emphasis on staying healthy through exercise and nutrition and more information is available in regards to what you should know about your own body.

Look around: the number of health clinics designed just for women is growing. These clinics focus on women's health issues and are sensitive to women's needs. Women are more open and aware about their health care than ever before, yet there are still topics that are hard to think and talk about, much less do anything about. Breast self-exams and mammogram's fall into the "hard to talk about or do anything about" category for many women. Ask your friends if they do breast self-exams every month. If they are honest, the majority will probably tell you that they don't do them-even though they know how and they know that they "should."
