Mindful Exercise, Part 1

Physical activity has been shown to improve quality of life. We know that physical exercise makes us stronger and gives us more endurance. It has also been shown to help with a myriad of health issues. But did you know that regular exercise for your mind can make it stronger and help keep you mentally sharp?

Exercise your BrainWe lose keys or forget phone numbers and blame it on getting older, like forgetfulness or lack of memory are completely out of our control. We know that diet and exercise can help us feel physically better. Exercises for the brain can work in the same way.

The brain, like a muscle, will lose or gain capability depending on how much it is used. Regular exercises that keep the brain engaged can help keep your mind working at its optimal capacity.

Generally as we get older we have a tendency to be more routine in our habits. Routine can be good for establishing stability and helping us progress towards goals. But the downside is that routine can also stifle mental growth with a lack of new stimulation.
