My scale will not return to or balance on zero:
1. Place the large and small poise weights at zero. Locate the zero
adjustment screw on the left edge of the beam and turn the screw clockwise to
raise the Beam Pointer or counterclockwise to lower it until it is properly
balanced in the center.
or
2. Remove the front and back screw that hold the Beam Stand Cap in place and
remove the Beam Stand Caps. Make sure both the large and small poise weights are
at zero. If not, turn the screw on the left edge of the beam until the Beam
Pointer is balanced in the center. Replace Beam Stand Caps without over
tightening the screws.
or
3. Look underneath the base of the scale. Make sure the Steelyard Rod, which
runs down the center of the tall pillar, is connected to the Nose Iron in the
base of the scale. Note : The Loop Eyed circle at the end of the Steelyard Rod is
used to insert your finger to assist in pulling and should not be attached to the
Nose Iron in the base of the scale. The hook located a few inches above the Loop
Eyed circle should be attached to the Nose Iron.
My scale is inconsistent; it registers a different weight each time:
1. The Platform on which you stand may be hitting the base of the scale. The
corner that your heels are on is adjustable from the bottom of the base. Turn the
scale over on its side and remove the round plastic foot. Insert an Allen wrench
into the now exposed hole and turn the screw to raise that corner of the
platform. Note: If you adjust one corner, be sure to adjust the opposite corner
to keep the platform levelor
2. Look under the base of the scale and make sure no foreign item is lodged into the base and that no parts have come out of the base.
I need to calibrate my scale:
1. The scale calibration can be adjusted by loosening the locking screw at
the end of the Long Lever with a 5/16" hexagon socket wrench. Once this screw is
loose you can slide the Nose Iron outward to decrease the indicated weight or
slide it inward to increase the indicated weight. Note: One-sixteenth inch
movement of the Nose Iron will change the indicated weight approximately
one-quarter pound per 100 pounds.
2. The Model 503 scale has a hole on the back of the base into which you can insert a 3/16" Allen wrench. Turn clockwise to increase the indicated weight or counter clockwise to decrease the indicated weight.
My scale remains on zero:
1. For new scale customers: remove the shipping plate from the bottom of the
scale.
or
2. Possible broken load beam cable assembles in base of the scale: contact
technical support at 1.800.638.3722 for further assistance. My scale has an Error
message Review the zero check and adjustment instructions shown on the back of
the scale display or contact technical support at 1.800.638.3722.
My scale will not weigh correctly:
1. If you have just received your scale, make sure the shipping plate has
been removed and the scale has had time to charge.
or
2. Try to recalibrate the scale. The instructions are listed on the back of the
scale display.
My scale is erratic or inconsistent:
1. For new scale customers: make sure all shipping devices have been
removed.
or
2. The Platform on which you stand may be hitting the base of the scale. The
corner that your heels are on is adjustable from the bottom of the base. Turn the
scale over on its side and remove the round plastic foot. Insert an Allen wrench
into the now exposed hole and turn the screw to raise that corner of the
platform. Note: If you adjust one corner, be sure to adjust the opposite corner
to keep the platform level
My scale display is not functioning:
1. The fuse may be blown. Check and replace if necessary.
2. The pillar cable may be plugged in incorrectly (should be connected "A" to "A" and "B" to "B").3. Ensure that the battery and pillar cable have been connected.
