The PiKo-1 is one of the world's most sophisticated tools for managing asthma at home. Unlike traditional mechanical meters, which only measure peak flow, the electronic PiKo-1 also measures FEV1, considered by many asthma specialists to be a more reliable indicator of an impending asthma attack. The advanced functions of the PiKo-1 are available at a price comparable with mechanical meters
This easy to use, Windows-based personal software features a small serial interface cradle which allows PiKo-1 users to track and trend their readings by downloading them onto their computer. This data can then be given to their doctor or asthma specialist. The downloaded data can also be used to set PEF and FEV1 best effort or predictive references in the PiKo-1.
Downloading the PiKo-1 memory bank is easy through the dedicated interface cradle. A Windows based software program provides graphical and numerical test information to the patient for trending analysis. The communication protocols are available to OEM clients for development of their own application.
Performance Zones - Personal best efforts may be entered manually. The PiKo-1 will display the numeric test results and also indicate the performance zone achieved. Using the optional software allows the zones to be adjusted based upon FEV1 and alternative percentage break points.
Minimum computer requirement is a Pentium II running Windows 98 (or later version of Windows), 32MB RAM, an available serial (COM) port, 100 MB free disk space.
