Gauze dressings dry out the wound surface and contribute to scab formation, while slowing the wound healing process. Moisture retentive dressings however, like Hydrocolloid Dressings, do not dry out the wound surface, instead creating a moist, low oxygen environment to facilitate the healing process. Hydrocolloid Dressings provide a secure seal over the wound and create a barrier to external contaminants and bacteria, reducing the risk of infection.
