Riester Diagnostic Instrument Handles are solid metal, black chrome-plated handles, featuring a practical bayonet fitting, letting the user quickly switch instrument heads with ease. The Riester Diagnostic Instrument Handles (models 10642 and10643) that take AA batteries feature a diameter of .75 inches, while the instrument handles (models 10670 and 10630) which use C batteries offer a diameter of 1.10 inches (28mm). The Riester 10639 Diagnostic Instrument Handle features a diameter of 1.10 inches as well, yet conveniently offers a rechargeable battery integrated into the handle. The Riester 10639 features an electrical plug located right on the handle, allowing the rechargeable battery to be charged by simply plugging the handle into a wall socket.

Every model has a different battery option. Model 10642 uses AA Alkaline or Lithium Ion batteries, while Model 10643 uses AA Lithium Ion batteries only. Model 10670 uses C batteries in Alkaline, Lithium Ion or NiMH, while Model 10630 uses C Lithium Ion batteries only. Model 10639 uses an integrated battery. Batteries are not included with any model, except model 10639.
